Objectives

The main purpose is to create an updated, well-equipped pediatric friendly rehabilitation room and residential program for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and neurological disorders. The plan is to conduct child-parent centered intensive therapeutic sessions in a structured manner using different equipment to achieve movement and motor skills. This can also be useful for group circuit exercises for both younger and older CP children, making it more fun-filled and motivating, leading to effective long-term results. The plan includes setting up equipment like treadmills with hoists, body-weight support treadmills, trampolines, tilt-tables, pulleys, etc., which focus on intensive physical exercise. It will resemble a Pediatric gym, hence it can be called a "Pediatric Rehabilitation Gym". This gym will also enable children to perform exercises separately under parental supervision in their own free time. Children and adolescents with cerebral palsy are at heightened risk for mental health problems. Physical activity is an effective strategy to promote quality of life and reduce mental health symptoms along with evidence-based therapies. Studies have shown that examining the mental health outcomes (e.g., quality of life, well-being, anxiety, and depression) of physical activity interventions in children and adolescents with CP can help inform the implementation of physical activity interventions for this population.
